1980s / 90s
Naiia Lajoie was born in Montreal, Canada. Her father is a software engineer in telecommunications of half-Syrian, half-French Canadian descent. Her mother is a designer/aesthetician originally from the Philippines. At age 2, the family moved to a small, rural town in Eastern Ontario. From a young age Naiia was heavily-involved in artistic endeavors; she was enrolled in art classes at age 3, joined the school choir in third grade, and always participated in school plays throughout her elementary years.
Having an international heritage, Naiia was fortunate enough to begin traveling shortly after she was born. This would eventually aid the transition of her family's cross-continental move when she was 12 years old.
1999 / 2004
In 1999 Naiia moved to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. There she began attending the American International School of Riyadh. In the Middle East she flourished both academically and in extracurricular activities. She was captain of the cheerleading squad in both her sophomore and junior years, became first soprano of the chamber choir, and landed the female lead in the school's musical as a senior.
2004 / 2008
Naiia returned to Canada to continue her studies upon being accepted into the music program at Bishop’s University, located in Sherbrooke, Quebec. In her second year she switched to a drama major. In 2008 she graduated cum laude with a B.A. Drama Honors, Minor in Film Studies. It was during that time she booked her first modeling gig for a Molson Export calendar shoot, which took her to Cuba in 2007.
2008 / 2013
Upon graduating, Naiia moved back to her hometown of Montreal to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. There she was cast in her first principal TV role on SpikeTV’s Blue Mountain State in 2009. Afterwards she worked steadily in Montreal's film industry, while also strutting the catwalk of the Festival Mode&Design in 2010, and modeling in magazines such as MontrealHOME's Summer 2011 issue.
Naiia broke into the music scene following her lead role in the music video Everybody Noze by House artist BIG BASS. They began recording together in 2011, and released the music video for their single 2Nite in late summer 2012. After successfully working as an actor, model, singer, dancer, and even writer for IM Image Magazine’s November & December 2012 issues, she felt it necessary to broaden her horizons and career opportunities once more.
2013 / 2018
In the summer of 2013, Naiia picked-up her life and in two weeks-time relocated to Los Angeles. She attended a six-month acting conservatory offered by Edgemar Center for the Arts in Santa Monica. Shortly after her time there, she successfully applied and obtained an O-1 work visa.
In 2014 she received her first top-billing role, portraying a Native American in the 26-minute short The Lost Dutchman. The period piece premiered at the Writer’s Guild Theater in Beverly Hills. In 2016 it was accepted into the Cannes Film Festival. This would be her first of 3 short films wherein she played the lead to be accepted into the Cannes Court Métrage. The others were the period piece Midnight in 2017, and Timeline Entertainment's extended music video The Feeling by Marko Jankovic in 2018. Since moving to LA she has booked countless photo shoots, commercials, web series, films, TV shows, as well as music videos, including Mary J. Blige’s Whole Damn Year and Wale featuring Usher's The Matrimony.
In 2015 Naiia booked two network TV shows; My Crazy Ex, a recreation show on Lifetime, and Cry Wolfe, an investigation drama on Discovery ID. She also began recording again with film and TV music composer Dominic Kelly.
The same year, Naiia participated as a Ms. contestant in her first-ever pageant, the Miss West Coast Pageant, a preliminary to Miss California USA, Miss USA, and Miss Universe. She placed 4th runner-up out of 18 women.
The same year she was hired by Productions Plus - The Talent Shop, a talent management and casting agency, as an Automotive Product Specialist. In representing brands such as Toyota, Lexus, Karma Automotive, and Tesla, this endeavor has brought her from Alaska for the Ever Better Expedition to Japan's Mount Fuji Speedway for the Toyota World Convention.
Naiia also works as a Princess Performer for Aloha Princess Parties, and is currently training to be a Professional Mermaid with Sheroes Entertainment. In 2018 she became an American Red Cross-certified Lifeguard, and is trained in adult/child/infant First Aid, CPR, and AED. She also obtained her PADI Open Water Diver certification. In addition to working well with children she is also a passionate animal advocate; volunteering often for the cat rescue Beach City Kitties, donating to the cause Operation Blankets of Love, and supporting ocean conservation charities such as Heal The Bay & Surfrider.
Naiia married her boyfriend Dan of 3 years in 2017. Together they work in the film industry; she, a SAG-AFTRA member as of 2018, and he as a set lighting technician. While they're not on their respective sets they enjoy traveling together, watching hockey, ice-skating, and surfing Venice Beach.
